Santa Venera al Pozzo thermal baths

Even in ancient times, th sulfur waters of the ancient Xifonie Spa were used. Clear signs of their greek origins remain in the Spa of Santa Venera al Pozzo. The Romams continued to use the Spa. Mention of them can be found in ”the Etna” by Cornelius Saverius and “ The Garden of Esculapius” by Philip of Thessaloniki. The new Spa in the S Caterina district are located within a vast area of ever green citrus trees, between Aetna and the Ionian Sea. The Spa of Acireale are used- in the form of muds, baths and inhalations- for rheumatic and bone and joint diseases, for the ears, throat and nose, and the respiratory system. The Spa of Acireale are open all year round.
